March 9th 2026

12 of our pupils enjoyed a truly memorable day at the prestigious Leon Paul Fencing Centre on Saturday 7th March, returning absolutely buzzing with excitement and pride. From the moment they stepped into the venue, they were in awe.

Despite the tough competition and a clear experience gap against some very seasoned opponents, every one of our teams showed exceptional determination. Their resilience never wavered, and their attitude throughout the day was nothing short of inspiring. A special congratulations goes to the U13 Women’s team, who secured a well-earned set of bronze medals!

What truly stood out today were the school values on display. The pupils supported each other wholeheartedly, celebrated every point, and ensured no‑one ever felt discouraged. Cromer Academy was the only public school competing at the event and they made the private schools work hard for every result, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they represented Cromer Academy.

Our captains, Ida, Fred, and Jacob, also shone, skilfully managing their squads, organising bouts, and keeping morale high throughout the competition. True leaders!

Our pupils had the rare opportunity to watch some exceptionally high‑level fencing, including competitors in the U15 and U18 categories who are part of the GBR pathway programme.

One of our ex-Year 11 pupils is currently competing with the GBR pathway programme following his success at regional championships. We hope this inspires our next cohort of fencers to strive for the same success.

Success for Cromer Fencing Club at Eastern Region Youth Championships

Earlier in the year, the Fencing Club were also highly successful at the Eastern Region Youth Championships 2026. These were held in Stevenage on Saturday 24th January and three fencers Yr 11 Eric, Yr 8 Ida and Yr 8 Eva, represented the club with distinction across their respective categories.

In the Under‑14 Women’s Épée, both Ida Petch and Eve Allen were competing at their first regional event. Ida topped the poules and continued her strong form all the way to the silver medal, while Eve delivered an impressive performance, narrowly missing out on a semi‑final spot after a closely fought 12–10 bout.

In the Under‑16 Mixed Épée, Eric Fenner finished 3rd. An excellent result and a notable improvement on last year.

All three fencers have now qualified for the British Youth Championships in May 2026.
