Ofsted Information

Cromer Academy was rated Good overall, with Outstanding for student personal development, behaviour and welfare; and for leadership and management in its most recent Ofsted inspection, published in January 2017.

Since 2017 Cromer Academy has received an ungraded Section 8 inspection in May 2023. Inspectors found the school was continuing to be a Good school. Praised for an "ambitious" curriculum and described as a "focal point where the achievements of the community converge and are celebrated". Cromer Academy continues to be recognised as a Good school with "high expectations" for pupils.

The report praises the academy's "inspirational leadership" and quotes repeatedly from parents supporting the school's "transformational" senior team.

One parent is quoted as saying "The teachers really will go the extra mile because they know and care about each and every child."

"Teachers typically have an in-depth knowledge of their subjects and of pupils' abilities. This knowledge underpins their effective planning and the excellent working relationships that they establish quickly with students, in lessons and in daily life in the school."

The report says that pupils and parents are a "powerful force for change in the school", with the student council making a real difference to academy life.

It says pupils "are rightly proud of their school, work hard and are courteous, tolerant and respectful to adults and each other" and that "parents, almost universally, hold the school in the highest regard."

Inspectors said the academy's curriculum is well-planned and effective, with high expectations a "hallmark of good teaching".
